In the foray of all things wedding preparation, wedding transport sometimes is and often overlooked. It is probably one of the most important things on the check list! This was an area I can say that my wife gave me the 100% choice to choose whatever I wanted. Great!
My search began looking into transport modes for my big day and I just found everything to be too cliché. Now, being a Mercedes enthusiast, in my mind it had to be nothing but a Merc so you can tell I was relieved when I came across Barratts Car Hire. I contacted Steve to organise a viewing and make the all important decision.
If I am honest, I was half sold from the moment I visited the site. It gave me and am sure you as well reading this the sense of the car’s history and that it is something very special. It has to be one of the best of not very many left examples out there. The time and effort gone into restoring this luxury Benz is remarkable. 40 odd years ago this was a top end motor vehicle for the very rich and the very famous. Technological advanced for its time, and yet it still doesn’t feel out of place in the era we find ourselves in of the electric car!
Needless to say this 1971 6.3 SEL looked even better in the flesh when the covers came off! For those who appreciate attention to detail this 1971 really hits the mark. From its carefully refurbished interior wood trimmings to the faultless paint and body work, it has a great road presence. Even when just standing. That long bonnet which hides the 6.3 litre engine looks absolutely stunning. Unleashing those horses made the hairs at the back of my neck stand up. Pure raw power incredibly smooth with its air suspension and as a passenger at the back, It’s exactly what you want. Takes road bumps and dips no problem. I can tell you that your attire will not be roughed up. You will arrive and leave your venue as fresh as you started in a car like this!
The car pays Steve a great credit too. The whole experience for a chauffeur driven vehicle in my opinion should be personal. This is the service that Steve provides. Purely as this SEL is his own pride and joy. That’s the difference. Once you meet Steve you will begin to understand that you just don’t get a ‘driver’ but an individual that is passionate about the car he owns and also at the job he does. For me personally it was also a credit for me too and proved to be a big hit on the day of the wedding and was taken in by the comments received afterwards about it. It just proved that my selection was the right choice. The car was the star!
